blog nuit blanche
October 1, 2006

Last night was Nuit Blanche in Toronto. An “all-night contemporary art thing” that ran from 7 PM to 7 AM, small parts of the city were converted into art installations, big and small. A small, intrepid band of us took to the streets to explore, and here are a few photos from the night:

This was the main attraction for many of us. Fujiko Nakaya’s Fog in Toronto #71624 was, as the website states, “an atmospheric sculpture created by artificially produced water fog and shaped instantaneously by the microclimate of the place where it is created.”

It really was very pretty, but I did feel that the large crowds it attracted did dampen the magic that was on display. You can’t win ‘em all, I guess.

This kid was having a ball. Everyone there looked like they were having so much fun.

Nadine about to enter the fog…

…and inside the fog.

Some of the other art installations that were set up in the area. Unfortunately, my other photos didn’t turn out quite as well as I hoped they would. I did manage to get this short video of two guys playing “Amazing Grace” on a hydraulis, though.
